Home Interior Design Ideas Australia - Australia is at the fore when it comes to imagining home interiors. Interiors reporter Natasha Levy reveals eight of the best recent examples, from a shabby house in Tasmania to a pink apartment in Melbourne.
Boardgrove Architects made the apartment look like a gallery, removing appliances and creating sculptural elements like a kitchen-paned archway.

A fourth studio connects the front yard of this Melbourne home indoors and outdoors, with extensive glazing – the bedroom is now filled with leafy green trees. So people find it difficult to judge modern Australian interior design. But don't be surprised, decorators, because I'm showing you a place that's really nailing it.
Below, we do a thorough modern insight. That wonderful indoor feeling that seamlessly incorporates nature into our spaces. I say "easy" because our internals are usually not stressed. They have a simple and natural nature, but they also seem refined.
There's no place for more design flair than Metricon's Duxton display. The images below take you through the rooms of a home decorated with Metricon's new lookbook theme, Urban Breeze. I can almost smell the freshly cut grass and feel the gentle breeze through the soft curtains. Give me white wine and a good book!
Amazing Tiny House Interiors In Australia
But what makes contemporary Australian interior design so special? Below I'll give you some tips on how to achieve this look in your own space. It's much easier than you think.
We're not shy about color in Australia, but we're not splashing it on our walls. Or at our window. Or our kitchen cabinets (though they are about to change). However, what we agree with is the subtle color combination with the cushions on the sofa. In our art. Even on our rugs and small table accessories.
If you're not confident you can build a bold wall, this is a smart way to do it. This allows you to experiment without breaking the bank (and who doesn't like to have cash!?).
All the colors in this Aus trend are inspired by nature. This is the basis of the Urban Breeze look. This will give your home a cohesive feel without being all white boho (a look I suspect is coming soon).
Eight Australian Homes That Show The Best Interior Design Down Under
There's a comfort in the Mod Aus trend that doesn't feel messy or overwhelming. Large decorative pieces are integrated into the tabletop and sofa, but still provide breathing space.
You'll also notice that mini skills are kept to a minimum. It's a detail I appreciate in all Metricon display homes, but it's particularly important to capture the mood of contemporary Australian interior design.
There is a great text for this trend. Wood is juxtaposed with linen, ceramics and concrete against soft velvet. You have the masculinity of leather sitting with fine wool and cotton.
Another important thing to achieve this right look is the style of soft furnishings. Lying on a soft couch is different than standing up straight. Thrown at the end of the couch without a fight. It keeps the space accessible and livable. It's all about the great Australian interiors, isn't it?

If you ask me, a room is nothing without plants. If you have a black thumb like me, fake it. Don't give me that look! There are some amazing artificial plants on the market right now. I also have a list of the best places to get them here.
The Metricon display houses are filled with beautiful artificial plants, giving you an idea of how far artificial plants have come. Clearly, they are important to the image of modern Aus, as we are all connected to nature, blurring the lines between indoors and outdoors.
If you scroll through the pictures in this post, you will see all the plants. Coffee table, side table, bedside - they are everywhere! If you have the opportunity to look out the window and see the beautiful wall of greenery, you should do it too. The bedroom photo below has a gorgeous green vertical garden that gives me design envy!

Finally, take a look at some interesting containers to display plants on the theme of greenery. Modern Australian interiors have the potential to showcase artistic ceramics, so don't be afraid to visit places like Etsy and pick up a little something from the place. the center

I'm on a personal mission to cover all of Australia with white walls, so I'd like to encourage you to try a little color in at least one room. If the upstairs bedroom doesn't inspire you to do so, I don't know what will.
A stunning blue gray on the walls above and below does wonders to enhance the look and feel of this room. In the picture below, you will see that the finish is a bit rough. Almost like a tangible effect. It's about bringing a little powder into the room. Paired with oversized earcups, the Boy strikes a nice textural balance.

If you are going to add color to your walls, try covering the entire wall in a muted color. There's been a resurgence of bold walls in spaces lately, and I'm all for it, but if the color is understated, you can skip it.
The funny thing is, most people cringe at the thought of painting all the walls of their room blue. But on the surface, it just works. If you imagine a room with white walls, I'm sure it won't make much of an impact.
So go ahead and give it a soft blue wall. Paired with brown leather, it's very modern Aussie.
